PAETEC Communications implementation of OS³

PAETEC purchased the OS³ Frameworks Network Change Management and Maintenance (NECMM) module to replace their in-house built Scheduled Maintenance system called SMD (Scheduled Maintenance Directive). PAETEC is licenced to support a capacity of approximately 450 OS³ Frameworks users.

The purpose of the Scheduled Maintenance Directive processes and the SMD system is to facilitate the efficient and prompt handling of all network engineering changes relating to the Construction, Maintenance and Growth of the PAETEC network.

The replacement of SMD with OS³ Frameworks was also part of a wider initiative to embrace ITIL Best Practices across IT and Network operations.

PAETEC Holding Corporation was a FORTUNE 1000 telecommunications company headquartered in Perinton, New York, United States. In 2007 it merged with US LEC and Cavalier Telephone Company and became a publicly traded company. In 2011, it was acquired by Windstream Communications.

The company is categorised as a CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) and delivers personalized communications solutions to medium and large businesses, colleges and universities, hospitals, hotels, governmental organizations and other institutions in the U.S.

The company positions itself as a premier alternative to ILECs (Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers), based on a nationwide footprint, breadth of products, and quality of service. PAETEC’s network combines IP switching, IP backbone, and TDM technologies, delivering services to 83 of the top 100 metropolitan areas in the U.S.

OS³ Frameworks Client implementations in the Telecoms Sector

Telecoms clients are entitled to use any of the OS³ Suite Telecoms Sector Modules or individual Microservices to support their Service Management Ecosystem requirements for as long as they continue to pay maintenance. Furthermore, clients are able to use OS³ Suite Workforce Management Microservices including full Case Management functionality to extend ‘Way beyond’ core Service Management capabilities at no additional cost. All OS³ Suite Modules and Microservices can run independently and the latest versions are all delivered with standard integrations for BMC Remedy, ServiceNow and Force.com.

One of our larger clients, (within just one of its divisions), has implemented OS³ Frameworks across circa 7,000 users as a core part of the solution that initiates and manages ticket volumes of circa 400,000 per month.  Tickets in this particular client are initiated from across multiple ecosystem sources including a range of internal monitoring systems, partners, suppliers and customers, broadly categorised as follows:
